Lachy Ritchie
Founder & Managing Director
Lachy grew up farming and has spent the past decade working where agriculture meets carbon, impact investing and regenerative land management. He started Nature Layer because one problem kept coming up: landholders with good land and real interest in nature markets, but nowhere independent to start. As Founder & MD, he designed the Nature Layer platform and leads its product and carbon work. Before Nature Layer, Lachy was founding CEO of Kakariki Land, where the team assessed more than 600 farms for their best use across food, fibre, carbon and biodiversity. He co-founded the Carbon Farming Foundation, whose free education and outreach resources became widely regarded across Australia for cutting through the jargon of carbon farming. In two years the Foundation also grew from registering 1% to 10% of all Environmental Plantings and Plantation Forestry projects in Australia. Lachy lives in the Margaret River region of WA, where he’s usually on a mountain bike, camping with his family, or on a surfboard.
